We want Pride in Our Community to be as welcoming, accessible and inclusive as we can. We are always open to feedback and suggestions.
Below is information to help attendees plan their visit.
The event will take place on Leith Links, the side of the park facing Duncan Place.
To help find the event easily, attendees are encouraged to use “Duncan Place Community Hub” as their destination in map apps.
The closest access point to the event is from the Duncan Place side of Leith Links, with step free access available from surrounding pavements and pathways.
The event site is on grass with some areas being uneven.
For this reason, matting will be laid throughout key areas of the event to support wheelchair users, mobility aids, prams and attendees who may benefit from more stable ground conditions.
The matting connects the main community space to help improve movement across the site.
There is no raised stage at the event. Following accessibility feedback, the event space has been designed as a flat-level community area to improve visibility and physical access for attendees.
Buses and trams are well sourced in the area and links are available nearby along Leith Walk and surrounding areas.
The closest tram stops are ‘The foot of the Walk’ or ‘The Shore.’
The closest bus stops are at Duke Street, Leith Walk, and Claremont Park on the far side of Leith Links.
Photos of entrances, pathways and access routes will also be available alongside the event information page to help attendees plan their visit in advance.
Accessible Toilets will be provided by Accessoloo. These are equipped with wheelchair lift, grab rails, ceiling hoist and adult changing bench. The model we have hired is named ‘Zack’.
Zack is a Citroen Relay low loader with a platform lift accessed on the passenger side of the vehicle. Fully self-sustainable operated by onboard batteries and water tanks.

- Grab Rails
- Central Heating

Accessible toilets are also available within Duncan Place Community Hub, where the quiet space is also located.
Volunteers will be available to direct attendees to these facilities on the day.
We will have a small volunteer Access Team available throughout the event.
Members of the Access Team will be wearing purple high visibility vests and can support with:

This team will be led by a professional PA/carer, sourced by DQE. This team is here to support Disabled attendees, for general access needs (setting you up a seat, carrying things, introducing you to new groups, directing to toilets/quiet space etc) but personal care will not be provided so if you need personal care, please bring along your own PA.
BSL interpreters will be present during the community speaker sessions
There is a quiet room based within Duncan Place Community Hub for attendees who may require a quieter indoor space.
You are encouraged to wear face masks in the quiet space. Face masks will be available if you need.
A volunteer will be based nearby throughout the day to support access to the space if required.
From 11am – 1pm, the event will include:
Following this, a community queer picnic and lawn games will take place until 4pm.
Activities are intended to be flexible and welcoming.
The yoga session hosted by Tidal Yoga is designed to be accessible for all body types and abilities, with attendees encouraged to participate in ways that feel comfortable for them.
Some seating will be available throughout the event area. If you require support accessing seating, please speak to a member of the Access Team. This is on a first come basis.
We encourage people to bring camping chairs, blankets etc whatever will make them comfortable. The access team are happy to carry on site and set these up for you if needed.
Assistance dogs are welcome.
There will be roaming first aiders on site throughout the duration of the event.
Water will also be available during the event.
There is a Scottish water top-up-tap in the park, roughly 20 metres from the main area. It is located just past the climbing nets. If you would like someone to aid you in filling up a bottle, just let a volunteer or access team member know and they will be happy to help.
Photography and filming may take place during the event for promotional and community documentation purposes.
If you do not wish to be photographed, you can request a pink wristband from volunteers wearing yellow high visibility vests.
Please avoid taking pictures of people without consent.
